We present a new multilingual 14-item scale for measuring science literacy in survey and experimental research. The scale captures three essential dimensions of science literacy in a digital world: civic science literacy, science media literacy, and cognitive science literacy. We developed, tested, and validated the scale through two preregistered national quota surveys in Switzerland and the United States in four languages (English, German, French, Italian). Iterative factor analyses, Bayesian Item Response Theory analyses, and validity tests confirm robustness and reliability of the scale.

The Adult Social Care All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) is a group of parliamentarians from across the political parties in the Houses of Parliament, who are committed to working together towards a positive vision for the future of social care. The Adult Social Care APPG is committed to cross party working, learning from the voice of lived experience, through the APPG's Lived Experience Group and through listening to the sector at large. This means that the Adult Social Care APPG is uniquely placed to compile a vision for the future of social care and to broker consensus on the key priorities for social care reform. The ambition of Future of Care 5 is to make these reports accessible for those who draw on care, as well as provide a snapshot for politicians to the common themes which emerge across these reports. This report is a compiled summary. We would encourage MPs, Peers, and those who draw on care and support see this summary as an introduction and an invitation, to explore the reports which it compiles for themselves.

In 2021, we conducted a mystery shopping exercise to measure telephone waiting times at GP surgeries in Greenwich. Results showed that wait times could range dramatically, from as little as one minute to as long as 36 minutes. Given that long waits on phone lines continue to be a regular source of frustration for residents, we repeated this exercise at the end of 2024.

To understand patient and public involvement (PPI) and its potential impact in the healthcare services more comprehensively, the social science literature on public participation in governing public services must be in- tegrated with the health science literature. To facilitate planning and evaluation of PPI-activities, the aim of this article is to review conceptual discussions of involvement/participation and impact, and summarize and inte- grate these in a way that advances the conceptual understanding of impact of PPI in healthcare services. Between dissatisfaction and support, justificatory repertoires in public feedback on emergency healthcare in the United Kingdom National Health Service

Quantitative studies of public opinion on healthcare often distinguish between support for the system and satisfaction with its services. The relationship between these two dimensions can appear contradictory: in UK surveys strong support for the NHS co-exists with rising dissatisfaction with care quality. We investigate this apparent contradiction through a novel analysis of 169 critical reviews of emergency care visits in the UK submitted to the Care Opinion platform between 2015 and 2023. While reviews all describe instances of poor care, we identify the 'justificatory repertoires' through which reviewers express continued support for the NHS. We argue this reveals how societal attitudes towards public healthcare provision are in a recursive relationship with actual experiences of healthcare, and that the articulation of those experiences is deeply shaped by awareness of the broader political context. Analysis of patient narratives reveals complex relationships between solidarity and dissatisfaction in public opinion, and insights into policy feedback loops between healthcare provision, institutional design and public attitudes toward healthcare.

Given the limited ethnicity data from people of Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller background, this project focused on advancing current knowledge around the barriers that communities regularly face in relation to health and ethnic identity recording. Through direct engagement and co-production, this study generated new insights and thinking around how to meaningfully involve Gypsies, Roma, and Travellers in co-producing ethnic identity-based categories for healthcare services. The aim of the study was to explore community members' perspectives on ethnic categories, ethnic data collection and management in the UK health services to improve active engagement with health services.
